PHL Consul General Graces Induction of Cebu Association of Guam Officers

21 December 2017 AGANA — Philippine Consul General to Guam Marciano R. de Borja graced the Cebu Association of Guam (CAG) Induction Ceremony and Christmas Celebration at the Westin Resort Guam on December 10.
Consul General de Borja administered the oath of the 2018-2019 CAG officers and board of directors led by CAG President Richard Behag. In his keynote speech, Consul General de Borja commended CAG for its initiatives and activities, and assured CAG of the Philippine Consulate’s continued cooperation. The Consul General also announced that the newly-constructed Official Residence of the Consul General in Jonestown will house furniture and furnishings from Cebuano furniture-maker and designer Murillo’s Export International, Inc.
Established in October 1985, Cebu Association is one of the longest existing and most active Filipino organizations on Guam. It has been very active in engaging in activities that benefit the Filipinos and community on Guam and in promoting Filipino culture and values among its members, especially their young children and youth. CAG has also extended humanitarian assistance to needy communities in the Philippines, particularly the disaster victims in the Visayas such as during the landslides in Ginsaugon, Southern Leyte and in Cebu during typhoon Yolanda. It spearheads the annual celebration of the Santo Nino Fiesta on Guam which is held every January as well as the holding of the monthly celebration of mass in honor of San Pedro Calungsod every first Saturday of the month at the Tumon shrine.
