29 November 2013 - Lao students who will participate in the LEAD ASEAN Youth Summit to be held in Manila from December 01 to 06 put up a stand at the Women’s International Group (WIG) Bazaar held on November 24 to collect donations for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines.
Information on the LEAD ASEAN Youth Summit gathered from its Facebook page noted, “In order to forge a strong youth network across the region, the Ayala Foundation, in partnership with the US Embassy in Manila, is hosting the LEAD ASEAN Youth Summit. The Summit will bring together 150 of the brightest young leaders from across South East Asia from December 3 to 5, 2013 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Makati City Philippines.The “Link, Engage, Activate, Develop (LEAD) ASEAN Youth Summit” will focus on the subjects of economic development, environment, education and awareness, and human development.”
The summit includes 150 delegates, 10 delegates per ASEAN country and 60 from the Philippines. All delegates have been selected after a competitive application process by Ayala Foundation and the US Embassies across ASEAN, and are either alumni of the United States government international exchange programs or alumni of the Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC).
The Lao student delegates to the Summit expressed their solidarity with the Filipino people and looked forward to their trip to the Philippines during which they will turnover the donation.
