21 December 2017 MOSCOW – As part of efforts to ensure that Philippine Honorary Consulates under its jurisdiction are able to extend high-level of service, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow provide continuing training on consular and administrative matters.

Philippine Honorary Consulates in St. Petersburg and Vladivostok (Russia), Yerevan (Armenia), Minsk (Belarus) and Kiev (Ukraine) report directly the Embassy in Moscow. They are headed by upstanding citizens and business leaders in their respective countries and provide service to the Philippine government free of charge.

“Our Honorary Consular Officers are our partners in promoting the Philippines as a tourism, trade and investment destination in their countries and extending assistance to Filipinos in places where there are no Philippine diplomatic missions,” said Ambassador Carlos D. Sorreta. “We want to make sure that they have the necessary skills to continue the good work that they have been doing,” he added.

Staff based in St. Petersburg, Minsk and Kiev have recently received training on the use of the new machine-readable visa system, preparation of financial reports and assistance to Filipinos in distress while those from Yerevan and Vladivostok will do so in the near future. END
