Vientiane 429 November 2013 - The best of Philippine products were showcased at the 23rd Annual Women’s International Group Bazaar held last November 23, at the Faculty of Engineering, National University of Laos in Vientiane.

The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, together with the CARD-MRI, a Philippine microfinance community development organization, put up a booth showcasing Philippine products like home décor items (soft furnishings), bags, pearl jewelry, fashion accessories and Christmas décors.  Ms. Dolores Ramos, a barong maker from Lumban, Laguna - client of CARD-MRI, participated in the event and sold Philippines’ proudly-made barong/filipiniana dresses. 

Christmas paintings of Mr. Edison Soliva were also featured in the Philippine booth, the proceeds from which will go to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). 

The Bazaar is an annual charity event organized by the Women’s International Group, known as WIG. Proceeds of the bazaar will support the projects for Lao women and children in the areas of health and education. 

This year, more than 200 local businesses, non-governmental organizations, embassies and other organizations joined the bazaar to sell delicious food and beverages, intricate handicrafts, and clothing.  Performances, music and games also became the highlights of the WIG Bazaar. 

The Philippine booth, decorated with Philippine tourism posters, attracted hundreds of visitors from diplomatic corps, international communities and Filipino community. END
