PHL Ambassador Leads ASEAN Ambassadors’ Visit to Duqm Economic Zone

Philippine Ambassador to Oman, Narciso T. Castaneda, (front row, second from right) joins other ASEAN Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Muscat (ACM) in visiting the Oman Drydock Company at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm on December 06.  The ACM was welcomed by the officials of the Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZAD) led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lee Chee Khian (front row, rightmost).

27 December 2017 MUSCAT – Philippine Ambassador to Oman, Narciso T. Castañeda, and current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Muscat (ACM), led the other Ambassadors from ASEAN member Embassies in Oman, in the group’s visit to the Duqm Special Economic Zone on December 06 to 07.  

The ACM’s visit to Duqm was hosted by the Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZAD). They were welcomed and assisted in the tour of the various sites in the Economic Zone by SEZAD Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Lee Chee Khian and Deputy CEO, Mr. Ismail Al Balushi.

Ambassador Castañeda, in behalf of the ACM, conveyed his appreciation to SEZAD for hosting the visit. He expressed optimism on the potential of the Economic Zone as a future development hub for Oman.

The Philippine Embassy is a member of the ACM, along with the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Consulate General of Singapore. END
