PHL Embassy in Lisbon Conducts Consular Outreach Mission to Luanda, Angola

27 December 2017 LISBON - Following the transfer of jurisdiction over the Republic of Angola to the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal in late 2015, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon conducted its second Consular Outreach Mission to Luanda, Angola on December 01 to 03. The first consular mission by the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon was conducted in December of 2016.
Led by First Secretary and Consul General Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga, the Embassy’s consular team provided consular services to the Filipino community in Angola with the assistance of the Honorary Philippine Consulate General in Luanda under Consul General a.h. Etienne Brechet. A total of 77 applicants availed of consular services such as passport renewal and registration of births.
In addition to consular services, the consular outreach mission also provided the Embassy an opportunity to meet and dialogue with the members of the Filipino community in Angola in order to better understand their situation, hear their concerns and develop ways in which the Embassy can better serve their needs.
On the afternoon of 03 December, the championship games for the 5th Basketball and Volleyball Tournament of the Filipino community in Angola was held at the JEMBAS Compound in Viana, on the outskirts of Luanda. An awarding ceremony followed the championship games where trophies, medals and cash prizes were handed out to the winning teams. END
