Daly City Council Reorganizes; FilAm Juslyn Manalo is New Mayor of Daly City

29 December 2017 SAN FRANCISCO — The special meeting of Daly City’s Council Reorganization took place at the City Hall Council Chamber of Daly City on December 11.
In his last acts as Mayor, the Honorable Glenn Sylvester presented awards to a few members of the Filipino-American Community, including Sonia Reyes as Mayor’s Citizen of the Year, and Janelle Cansino Feraro as Mayor’s Youth of the Year. In his final remarks, Mayor Silvester vowed to work for transparency in Daly City Council’s transactions, to foster understanding and cooperation among the residents of Daly City.
The final part of the program was the reorganization of the City Council. Three of the five council members were present for the election, namely Mayor Glenn Sylvestor, Vice Mayor Jusly Manalo, and Councilmember Raymond Buenaventura. Filipina-American Vice Mayor Manalo was elected Mayor, with Councilmember Buenaventura elected as Vice Mayor.
The event ended with the administration of the Oath of Office of both the Mayor and the Vice Mayor, with the promise of the Council Members. In addressing her constituents for the first time as Mayor, Juslyn Manalo recalled growing up in Daly City, saying that she was honored and humbled to serve as the new Mayor. END
