“ASEAN Business Connects” in Prague, PHL Embassy Recognized by Czech Top 100 for Promoting Business in Czech Republic

29 December 2017 PRAGUE — Philippine Embassy Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Juan E. Dayang, Jr. reported to the Department that the ASEAN Committee in Prague hosted a reception with business leaders dubbed as “ASEAN Business Connect” in November this year as part of this year’s celebration of ASEAN’s 50th anniversary. During the event, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Martin Tlapa, delivered keynote remarks and highlighted the potential and new opportunities in the ASEAN region for Czech business.

The ASEAN Business Connect was aimed at strengthening economic relationships between ASEAN member states and the Czech Republic as well as to connect, reconnect and expand the business networks between the two parties.  In 2016, trade volume between ASEAN and the Czech Republic reached over five billion US dollars which made ASEAN the 15th top trading partner of the Czech Republic.

On this occasion, Mr. Jan Struž, Chairman of the Czech TOP100, presented awards to ASEAN ambassadors and the Philippine Chargé d’affaires Dayang as well as Deputy Minister Tlapa, in recognition of all their efforts in promoting business partnership between Czech Republic and ASEAN countries. 

The reception, which was hosted by Thailand Ambassador Narong Sasitorn at his residence were participated by ASEAN Ambassador from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and representatives of the Philippine Embassy.

More than 60 participants joined the Business Connect including representatives of companies and industries involved in petrochemical industry, automotive industry, international school, organic agriculture and tropical fruits industry, as well as gems and jewelries. Media and members of Think Tanks based in Prague were also in attendance. END
