Madrigal Singers Performs in Czech Republic in Celebration of the Launching of PH-Czech@45

The UP Madrigal Singers performed before members of the diplomatic corps and government officials at the Church of St. Henry and Kunhuty in Jindrisska on December 15.

29 December 2017 PRAGUE — The Philippine Embassy led by Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Juan E. Dayang, Jr., hosted the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers from December 07 to 12, as part of the celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Philippine-Czech Diplomatic Relations in 2018.

With Choirmaster Mark Anthony A. Carpio, the multi-awarded “Madz” was well-received during their invitational concert at the Church of St. Henry and Kunhuty (Jundrisska Church) attended by diplomats and government officials. 

The Madz sang during mass at the UNESCO Heritage Site St. Jan Nepomuk Church at Zelena hora and at a concert at the Basilica of Our Lady of Assumption and St. Nicholas, made possible through Embassy partnership with the city officials of Žďár nad Sázavou Mayor Zdeněk Navrátil and Vice-Mayor Josef Klement, which was widely praised by the residents of the city in the full-packed Basilica.

They also sang during the mass at the Shrine of the Pilgrimage site Santo Niño de Praga.

Capping their visit, the Madz also gave a mini concert at the Prague Old Town Christmas Market with an enthusiastic crowd. END

Choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio leads the UP Madrigal Singers at a concert held in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Nicholas, Žďár nad Sázavou, in front of more than a hundred audience on December 16.
