PHL Embassy in Lisbon Promotes Economic Opportunities to Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry

04 January 2018 LISBON – As part of its economic diplomacy efforts to promote the Philippines as a place of doing business in the East Asian region, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon gave presentations on the Philippine market and business opportunities thereat to members of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP) in Lisbon on 14 December 2017. 

Mr. Pedro Rodrigues, Secretary General of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce welcomed the participants. This was followed by the remarks of the Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria who gave a general overview of doing business in the Philippines.

This was followed by Mr. Froilan Emil D. Pamintuan, Director and Commercial Attaché of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Paris, who gave a presentation on the trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines, which included government incentives for foreign companies looking to invest in the Philippines.

Mr. Jose I.C. Laquian, Philippine Agricultural Attaché from Brussels, Belgium, Luxemburg and European Union, also gave an overview of the agricultural sector and the potential market opportunities of this sector in the Philippines.

A roundtable discussion followed with testimonials from Portuguese companies doing businesses in the Philippines. These testimonials highlighted the business experiences encountered by the Portuguese companies in dealing with the Filipino workforce and the Philippine business environment. 

The Philippine business seminar was attended by representatives from 18 Portuguese business companies and was held in preparation for plans of the CCIP to organize a business mission to the Philippines for interested members sometime in the first half of 2018. END
