29 November 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York, assisted by the Philippine Department of Tourism-New York and Philippine Trade and Investments Center, in cooperation with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, hosted the second Inuman at Pulutan at the Midtown Loft and Terrace in Manhattan, New York last November 14.
It was a sold out event, with 350 people consisting of businesspersons, food and travel media, mainstream New York culinary enthusiasts and Filipin-Americans in attendance. The guests were treated to a gustatory adventure with stylized versions of sisig, dinuguan, adobo, inasal, lumpia and bibingka prepared by the chefs from Inasal, Lumpia Shack, Maharlika, Pig and Khao, Ugly Kitchen and Bibingka-esk. An open bar provided drinks featuring Filipino cocktails courtesy of San Miguel Beer and Destilleria Limtuaco.
What was planned as an evening to just showcase Filipino food and drinks was turned into a benefit cocktail event for the victims of the recent calamities in the Philippines. Half of the proceeds went to Brick by Brick, a non-profit-organization that helps in the reconstruction efforts for the damages brought by the earthquake in Central Visayas last October. The other half went to Handang Tumulong, Inc. which channels funds towards the relief operations for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). END
