PHL Consulate General Joins the Feast of Sto. Niño in Guam
17 January 2018 AGANA — The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, led by Consul General Marciano R. De Borja with his wife and daughter, participated in the Feast of Sto. Niño on 14 January in Agana and Dededo, Guam. This annual event, organized by the associations of Cebuanos, Aklanons, Capizeños, and Ilonggos, has been celebrated in Guam since 1999.
The festivity commenced with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Dulce Nombre De Maria Cathedral Basilica. Bishop Antonieto Cabahog of Surigao concelebrated the mass with Coadjutor Archbishop Michael Jude Byrnes of Agana.
After the mass, Bishop Cabahog blessed with holy water several statuettes of the Sto. Niño brought by devotees. A short procession on the streets just outside the cathedral followed the blessing.
The float carrying the image of Sto. Niño took the lead in the march, followed by throngs of churchgoers holding their respective statuettes and dancing to the upbeat tunes provided by Ati-atihan drummers. END
