17 January 2018 HONOLULU — Consul General Gina Jamoralin called on US Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa representing 1st Congressional District for Hawaii at her Honolulu office on 11 January, to bid farewell and to thank Congresswoman Hanabusa for her strong advocacy for Filipino veterans in the US Congress and other related issues affecting the Filipino communities in the United States.
Congresswoman Hanabusa expressed great satisfaction that the US Congress finally recognized and acknowledged the bravery and heroism of the Filipino veterans of World War II with the awarding of the WW II Filipino Veterans Congressional Gold Medal on 25 October 2017 in Washington D.C. She will continue to advocate for the recognition and rights of Filipino veterans in the US Congress. Other issues discussed during the call were those dealing with immigration such as the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA).
Congresswoman Hanabusa congratulated Consul General Jamoralin for her successful tenure as Consul General in Hawaii, and wished her well in her new assignment in Chicago. END
