17 January 2018 MOSCOW – Russia-based OFWs welcome the DFA’s move to increase the validity of Philippine regular passports from five to ten years with the start of the new year. especially since the increased validity came at no additional cost.
Beginning 01 January, passport applicants at the Philippine Embassy in Moscow and all other Philippine foreign missions and DFA offices will receive passports with extended validity while the price remains unchanged at USD 60.
Ms. Judelyn Delacruz and Ms. Helen Nivero, both based in Irkutsk which is 5,000 kilometers away from Moscow, said the new 10-year passports made their five-hour flight worth it. “Napakalaking bagay po sa amin kasi hindi na po kami magpapabalik-balik nang madalas,” said Ms. Dela Cruz. “Tipid po dahil mas matagal na ang pagitan ng applications at saka po hindi tumaas ang presyo,” added Ms. Nivero.
The DFA processed more than 3.7 million passports in 2017 in DFA offices in the Philippines and Philippine Embassies and Consulates all over the world. END
