PHL Consulate General Welcomes San Beda Red Lions as PH Representative to the 29th Dubai International Basketball Tournament
22 January 2018 DUBAI — The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai welcomed on 18 January the San Beda Red Lions, who will represent the Philippines in the forthcoming 29th Dubai International Basketball Tournament to be held on 19-26 January at the Al Ahli Sports Club in Dubai.
The Philippines joins nine other teams vying for the Championships – Sale of Morocco, Al Riyadi of Lebanon, Es Rades of Tunisia, Al Ahly of Egypt, UAE National Team, Al Nasr Libya, Sagesse of Lebanon, Ball Above All UAE, and the Homenetmen of Lebanon. It is the only non-Arab team participating in the tournament.
Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes wishes the team the best of luck and hoped that the team’s showing would lead to the Championships. The Consulate also urged the Filipino Community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to support the Philippine team at all their games. The Philippines has regularly participated in this annual tournament organized by the UAE Basketball Association.
The Red Lions also visited Post’s MWORFC and shared messages of hope for the over 200 wards at the Center. END
