22 January 2018 NEW YORK –  The Philippine Consulate General in New York held a Discussion-Fellowship with Anti-Human Trafficking and Migration advocates on 17 January at the Kalayaan Annex of the Philippine Center in New York.

DAMAYAN Migrant Workers Association, the Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund (FALDEF), St. Francis of Assisi Migrants Center, and volunteer private lawyers who have been actively involved in assisting the Consulate in Human Trafficking and other cases took part in the activity.

The event was an opportunity for the Consulate General to thank its partners and stakeholders in efforts to reach out to the community and extend assistance to Filipino victims of human trafficking and other forms of abuse. The Consulate represented by Consul General Theresa Dizon-De Vega, Deputy Consul General Kerwin Tate, Consul Arman Talbo, and ATN Officer Arturo Romua likewise provided updates on the latest developments regarding the Department of Foreign Affair’s policies on the delivery of assistance to nationals, in particular the revised rules on the use of the Legal Assistance Fund and the Assistance to Nationals and migration-related events for 2018.

The Philippine Consulate General continues to actively engage with migration advocates within the community, volunteers from the legal profession, civil society groups, and government agencies to raise awareness and encourage involvement in efforts to address migration-related concerns.
