25 January 2018 DHAKA — The 1st Lecture “Reel Life in the Real World Series,” Merging Passion and Career in Film-making, the first Film-focused program under the Cultural Diplomacy of the Philippine Embassy, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Film & Television Academy (BFTA), was held on 20 January 2018 at the BFTA main hall.

The guest speakers of the said series are Mr. Dennis Evangelista, a noted Filipino screen writer and producer, with a degree of Communications major in Film and Audio Visual Communication from the University of the Philippines and Mr. Allen Dizon, a multi-awarded Filipino actor. Their film “Bomba” (The Bomb) competes in the 16th Dhaka International Film Festival, which runs from 12 to 20 January, under the Asian Competition Category.

Attended by the students of BFTA, professionals from various organizations related to film making and members of University Film Clubs in Bangladesh, the lecture featured discussions on experience-based realities of having a career in film making, promotion and distribution of films in international film festivals and a question and answer segment engaging interaction among lecture participants and speakers.  

The series, which focuses on holding activities that would feature Filipino film makers, aims to raise international appreciation of Filipino films, promote exchanges between Bangladeshi and Filipino artists, film makers, film history scholars and film professional and future cooperation programs between the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka and the BFTA.
