25 January 2018 SAN FRANCISCO – Philippine products took center stage in the heart of the Bay Area as seventeen (17) of the country’s premium food exporting companies participated in the 43rd edition of Winter Fancy Food Show (WFFS) on January 21-23.

Held annually at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the Winter Fancy Food Show is the West Coast’s largest annual trade show devoted exclusively to specialty food and beverages. The event features close to 1,500 exhibitors and showcases more than 80,000 different specialty food and beverages across the globe.

Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. hosted the delegates and their prospective business partners in a reception and networking event on 22 January to provide ample opportunity for the Philippine companies to deepen their discussions with importers and buyers. The Consul General and his economic diplomacy team also met with the group to discuss opportunities for broadening trade ties between the West Coast and the Philippines.

The Philippine delegation, led by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), seeks to expand the country’s market foothold in the North American mainstream market by tapping the increasing demand for specialty food products in the United States.

For the Philippine exporters, participation in the WFFS not only allows them to showcase their unique specialty products, but also presents an opportunity to take advantage of business matching activities with international buyers. Their market representatives also participate in CITEM-led export-capability program to equip them with relevant knowledge on the market trends and requirements in North America.

This year’s seventeen (17) participating companies are as follows: Arko Foods, Bethany Sales, Inc. (Tamcor Mexim USA), Century Pacific Food, Inc., Hacienda Macalauan, Inc., Islamic Da'wah Council of the Philippines, JNRM Corporation, Magical Blend Marketing International, Magic Melt Foods, Inc., Mama Sita's (Marigold Manufacturing Corporation), Monde M.Y. San Corporation, Pasciolco Agri Ventures, Profood International Corporation, Sagrex Food Incorporation, San Miguel Pure Foods, Inc., Seabest Food Beverage Corporation, Subic Superfood, Inc., and Super Q.

During its 2017 participation in WFF, the delegation secured a total of US$ 48.73 million negotiated sales in 463 inquiries from trade buyers, exceeding targets and recording its highest sales in its four years of participation in the WFFS.

Participation in the Winter Fancy Food Show is a key component of the Philippine Consulate General and its attached agencies’ push for the SPARK, CONNECT, and EMPOWER movement.  Such participation sparks interest in Philippine-made products, forges connections between Philippine food companies and U.S. partners, and empowers the Philippine food industry and the Philippine economy as a whole.
