Towards Stronger Philippine-Austrian Relations: Philippine Ambassador meets with Secretary General Dr. Michael Linhart
25 January 2018 VIENNA — Ambassador Maria Cleofe R. Natividad, who recently presented her credentials to Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen at the Hofburg, met with Secretary General Dr. Michael Linhart at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration, and Foreign Affairs on 18 January.
During the call, Ambassador Natividad shared with Dr. Linhart, the highest ranking civil servant at the foreign ministry, her plans to enhance overall bilateral relations with Austria. She congratulated Dr. Linhart on the forthcoming Austrian presidency of the Council of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2018 and discussed the achievements of Philippine chairpersonship of the ASEAN in 2017. Both agreed that the Asia Europe Meeting in Vienna will be a good opportunity to strengthen ties on both inter-regional and bilateral levels.
Ambassador Natividad is the 9th resident ambassador of the Philippines to Austria, she was previously Philippine Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. Formal diplomatic relations between Philippines and Austria was established in October 1946. END
