PHL Embassy Turns Over Micronutrient Powder Donation to Syria

29 January 2018 DAMASCUS — The Philippine Embassy in Damascus headed by Charge d’ Affairs e.p., Crescente R. Relacion handed over the Philippine government’s $50,000.00 worth of micronutrient powder donation to the Syrian authorities on 24 January 2018 in the port of Lattakia.
Dr. Ammar Ghanam, Lattakia Governorate Chief Administrator of the Ministry of Health, Port and Customs officials were present on behalf of the Syrian government to accept the donation.
Dr. Ghanam conveyed the Syrian Government’s appreciation and gratitude on the donation that will benefit thousands of displaced Syrian children who are affected by the on-going war of the country. He also thanks the Philippine Government of its steadfast support on Syria in the UN and other multilateral fora in its fight against terrorism.
Also present during the turnover of donation were customs and port officials who conveyed their gratitude to the Philippines for the generous and symbolic support it gave to the people of Syria during this time of difficulty.
The micronutrient powder donation was the Philippines’ humanitarian and goodwill gesture to help infants and young children who are the most vulnerable in the ongoing civil war in Syria. END
