ASEAN Committee in Santiago Officers and Personnel pose with members of their families after a fun-filled day

30 January 2018 SANTIAGO – The Philippine Embassy, acting in its capacity as Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Santiago (ACS), co-hosted an ASEAN Family Day on 27 January at the official residence of the Indonesian Embassy in Vitacura, Santiago.  Festivities were headed by Philippine Chargé d’Affaires Marcos A.S. Punsalang and Indonesian Ambassador H.E. Philemon Arobaya.

In his speech, Chargé d’Affaires Punsalang highlighted the need to arrange social and family activities to foster camaraderie and cultural understanding between ACS members, in addition to the group’s regular politico-economic engagements with the Chilean government and other stakeholders in the country.

The Philippine Embassy prepared traditional Filipino games and prizes for the children, such as the Pukpok Palayok, as well as other party games and ASEAN-related trivia questions for adults.

The ACS is composed of the embassies of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.  The Philippine Embassy is the Chairman of ACS from December 2017 to March 2018.

This event was the first official ASEAN family gathering organized under the ACS. END
