31 January 2018 HONOLULU — The Hawaii House of Representatives convened a special session on January 24 to honor Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin and Mayor Maria Cristina C. Angeles and the Tarlac City Government Delegation for enhancing relations between the Republic of the Philippines and Hawaii.
The House drafted a resolution spearheaded by Representatives John Mizuno and Romy Cachola to recognize the significant contribution of Consul General Gina Jamoralin to the Filipino community in Hawaii and to Hawaii-Philippine relations. During the recognition ceremony, a number of Representatives lauded the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu led by Consul General Jamoralin in playing a pivotal role in strengthening and connecting with the Filipino community and strong partnership with the State of Hawaii including the different counties and islands.
The Consul General was also awarded a medal and certificate for the Distinguished Public Service Award (DPSA) by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. military. The certificate was signed by Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Chairman of the JCS. The DPSA medal was pinned by U.S. Pacific Command chief Admiral Harry B. Harris, Jr., in a simple ceremony at the Head Quarters of PACOM in Camp Smith on 25 January 2018. The Citation read in part: “For distinguished public service to the Department of Defense as the Consul General of the Philippines in Honolulu, Hawaii, from July 2014 to January 2018. Consul General Jamoralin diligently worked to strengthen solidarity between the United States military leadership stationed in Hawaii and all levels of the Philippine Government.” END
