PHL Consul General in Hawaii Bids Farewell
31 January 2018 HONOLULU — The Filipino Community in Hawai’i county led by the Fil-Am Community of East Hawaii and other groups organized a farewell lunch for Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin on January 19 in Hilo, Hawai'i county (aka Big Island). Mr. Oliver Parenas, president of the Fil-Am Community of East Hawaii presented a farewell gift to Consul General Jamoralin in the form of a statue of a hula dancer.
Young Filipino-Americans studying the Ilocano Language under the Ilokano Language Acquisition and Immersion for the Next Generation (I-LAING 3) Project, gave an impressive cultural presentation in Ilokano in honor of Consul General Gina Jamoralin on January 13 at the Flipino Community Center. The presentation was directed by Prof. Aurelio Agcaoili, Chair of the Ilokano Department, University of Hawaii who is also the instructor for the I-LAING 3 class in cooperation with a team of UH-Ilokano Department volunteers.
31 January 2018 HONOLULU — Consul General Gina Jamoralin called on Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui at his office at the State Capitol on January 22 to bid farewell and to thank him for his support during the tenure of Consul General Jamoralin in Hawaii. Consul General Jamoralin travelled with Lt. Governor Tsutsui in 2015 when the Lt. Governor led the Filipino Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii (FCCH) Trade Mission to the Philippines in February 2015 where the delegates travelled to Manila, Daet, Cebu and Palawan. Lt. Governor Tsutsui has been a close friend of the Filipino community and the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu.
Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin made a farewell call on Hawaii Senators Donna Mercado-Kim and Willy Espero at the State Capitol on January 24. Consul General Jamoralin met with Senator Will Espero, who represents the 19th Senate District which encompasses Ewa Beach, Ocean Pointe, Ewa by Gentry, Iroquois Point and a portion of Ewa Villages. He is currently the Majority Floor Leader of the Hawaii State Senate and Chair of the Committee on Housing and Member of the Committee on Commerces, Consumer Protection and Health; the Committee on Education; and Committee on Higher Education.
Consul General Jamoralin called on Senator Donna Mercado Kim on January 24. Senator Kim represents Hawaii’s 14th Senatorial District Consul which encompasses Kapalama, Alewa, Kalihi Valley, Ft. Shafter, Moanalua Gardens & Valley and portions of Halawa and Aiea. She has served in the Hawaii’s State Senate since 2000.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) Honolulu Office led by its manager, Ms. Sol Solleza paid a surprise visit to the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu on January 26 to bid farewell to Consul General Gina Jamoralin. Ms. Solleza presented a token gift of specially made fan and a cake.
