Filipino Delicacies Feature at 13th Lao Food Festival

01 February 2018 VIENTIANE — The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, Laos participated in the 13th Lao Food Festival held from 24-27 January at Chao Anouvong Park in Vientiane, Laos. The Embassy, in cooperation with the Office of the Special Agricultural Representative (OSAR) and the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA), showcased Filipino cuisine and promoted Philippine tourism by decorating its booth with Philippine-made handicrafts and It’s More Fun in the Philippines posters.

The Embassy’s booth featured Philippine snack items, namely Mixed Crispy Anchovies and Squid, Crispy Anchovies, Crispy Squid, Mango kernels, Chichacorn, Banana Chips, Sweet Potato Chips, Crispy Mushroom Flakes and Vacuum Freeze Dried Durian. Post also invited attendees to sample pork adobo and fried vegetable lumpia, which turned out to be popular with locals and foreigners. Chichacorn also proved to be popular being the first of the products to be sold out during the event.

The 13th Lao Food Festival was an annual event organized by the Lao Women’s Union in collaboration with the Lao Businesswomen’s Association. The event, which was participated in by business entities in the food and beverage market, Embassies in Lao PDR, and other business enterprises selling non-food products, aims to promote Lao culture, cuisine and handicrafts, as well as female entrepreneurs.
