06 February 2018 WASHINGTON, D.C. — Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez hosted a dinner in honor of the ASEAN Ambassadors to the US on 01 February at his official residence.
The Ambassadors of Singapore, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Viet Nam and Lao PDR, as well as representatives of the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam and Thailand, were treated to an evening of lively conversations and Philippine cuisine.
The animated discussions were held over a full course meal prepared by Philippine resident chef Abbie Mateo. Ms. Erlinda Lachica, a Filipino pianist based in Baltimore, played light classical music and Filipino kundiman throughout the evening.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Romualdez thanked his fellow ASEAN diplomats for supporting the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2017 and for extending a warm reception to him. He also said that he was looking forward to building good working relationships and lasting friendships among them.
Singaporean Ambassador to the US Ashok Kumar Mirpuri expressed appreciation on behalf of the guests. Singapore is the Chair of ASEAN for 2018. END
