Team Philippines-USA Conducts Planning Conference in Washington

14 February 2017 WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Heads of Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the US and the DFA-Office of American Affairs convened the 2018 Planning Conference of Team Philippines-USA on 8-9 February 2018 at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez chaired the Conference, which was participated in by the heads and representatives of the Philippine Consulates General in Agana (Guam), Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. The Philippine Consulate General in Houston, Texas that is slated to open later this year, was also represented.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Romualdez exhorted the Consulates General to continue delivering effective public service and do right by the country and the Filipino people.
Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter S. Cayetano, who attended the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. also took the opportunity to provide insight and guidance to Team Philippines-USA on the first day of the Planning Conference.
The Planning Conference was preceded by a one-day economic diplomacy brainstorming session among officials from the Posts’ Economic Sections, Office of the Agriculture Attaché, Philippine Trade and Investment Centers, Tourism Offices, Philippine Overseas Labor and Welfare Office (POLO-OWWA), and Philippine Honorary Consulates in the US.
The Planning Conference is a bi-annual stocktaking and direction-setting exercise that allows Philippine Foreign Service Posts to craft a common strategy on improving consular and assistance-to-nationals services and strengthening political, economic and people-to-people ties with the United States.
