Filipino Community in Warsaw Raises US$1,115.28 for the Recovery of Marawi

15 February 2018 WARSAW — The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw, Poland turned over the amount of US$1,115.28 as assistance for the recovery from anonymous donors from the Filipino community in Poland to Mr. Dondon Farrales of “Pinoys in Poland.
Mr. Farrales has been requested to remit the said amount to the Philippine National Red Cross or to any relevant agency.
Last 10 December 2017, the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw staged an event dubbed as “Pamaskong Handog sa MarawI” as a public appeal for assistance and support for the recovery of Marawi. After a mass offering for the casualties in Marawi a video on the Marawi siege was shown to the public.
In her brief remarks during the 10 December event, Philippine envoy to Poland Ambassador Patricia Ann Paez informed the audience that the Embassy is prohibited from engaging in fund-raising and from soliciting contributions. She urged the audience who may wish to contribute for the recovery of Marawi, to do so, by directly remitting his/her contribution to the Philippine National Red Cross.
Still, some members of the Filipino community and some Poles who attended the public appeal event decided to leave their contributions to the Embassy which was held for safekeeping by the Embassy’s finance officer Mr. Marden Garduque prior to the 11 February 2018 turnover to Mr. Farrales. END
