19 February 2018 OSLO – Jeepney (Filipino Crossover Cuisine) opens in Oslo, becoming the first Filipino restaurant in the scenic Frogner borough.

The Philippine Embassy officers and enthusiastic guests joined Jeepney’s proprietors John Noceda, Teresa Dahlberg, Arnel Caballa for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, February 09 at Bygdøy allé 19A. 0262 Oslo. Friday was also a fully-booked first evening of operation.

Jeepney, named after the Philippines’ colourful and ubiquitous public transportation vehicle, serves a imaginative introduction to Filipino cuisine. Dishes include Filipino staples such as Sisig served in tacos, Crispy Sinigang (Crisped Pork Ribs served in Tamarind broth), Kare Kare steak (an entrecote steak served with peanut sauce), and Adobo ala Jeepney, a modern version of the Philippines’ beloved dish.

Filipino cuisine has been underrepresented in Oslo for quite some time. The Embassy hopes that restaurants like Jeepney can promote the bold flavours and succulent textures Filipino food is known for. END
