Ambassador Sta. Romana talks about the good relations between the Philippines and Hainan Province
20 February 2018 BEIJING — On the 30th anniversary of Hainan as a province and as a special economic zone, Philippine Ambassador Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana delivered brief remarks at the "Beautiful New Hainan, Shared New Opportunities" forum hosted by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 02 February 2018.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sta. Romana noted the similarities between the Philippines and Hainan in terms of climate and natural resources. He noted the twinning arrangements between Lapu-Lapu City and Sanya, and Tagum City and Haikou, that aim to promote exchanges and enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between these Philippine cities and their counterparts in Hainan.
He further noted the recent visits to Hainan by Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and National Anti-Poverty Commission Lead Convenor Liza Maza which resulted in productive exchanges and sharing of experiences with provincial leaders.
