PH Food and Beverage Companies Poised to Take a Bite Out of the Middle East Market

21 February 2018, DUBAI — Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund P Cortes led the opening of the Philippine pavilion at the GulFood Expo 2018 at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) on 18 February 2018. Spread across one million square feet of exhibition space, Gulfood is the world’s first major food and beverage trade event of the year and is expected to draw over 90,000 food industry professionals. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, opened the exhibition.
Among the brands being showcased in the Philippine pavilion are: Mama Sita, Century Tuna, Gold Seas Tuna, Absolute Drinking Water, Summit Sparkling Drink, Cobra Energy Drink, Magnolia Ice Cream, and San Mig Coffee. Other Philippine food companies were also present during the event.
Consul General and Mme Cortes, accompanied by Deputy Consul General Renato N. Dueñas, Jr., Vice Consul Elizabeth Ramos, Abu Dhabi Economic Officer April Reyes, and Commercial Attaché Eric Elnar visited the exhibitors at the Philippine pavilion and sampled some of the best Philippine food products.
After touring the Philippine pavilion, Consul General Cortes praised the high quality of the Philippine products. He said he was impressed at the level of sophistication and quality of our products showcased at the exhibition. “Many of our products can compete with any other brand and become a hit in the mainstream market in the UAE and beyond,” he added.
