PH Embassy in Kuwait Reunites Toddler Abandoned by Indian Dad with Filipina Mom
The newly-reunited Filipino mother and child will be among those who would be soon flown to the Philippines, as part of the DFA's ongoing repatriation program.
25 February 2018 KUWAIT — The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait was able to reunite a one-year-old girl with her Filipina mother a few hours after she was abandoned at a local park by her Indian father.
The Embassy said a kind-hearted guard from Ghana found the toddler alone and crying on Thursday.
Ambassador Renato Villa said the guard brought the child to the Embassy after a note inside the bag next to her asked whoever found her to bring her there.
Ambassador Villa said the note was written by someone who introduced himself as Tintin’s father who said he was returning to India and could not take the child with him because she was undocumented.
Ambassador Villa said the Embassy was able to contact the mother at the number indicated in the note.
“The mother arrived soon after to claim the baby who she said she has not seen in three months,” Ambassador Villa said.
“The mother said she has not seen her daughter since she was kicked out of their rented room by the father whom she accuse of physically abusing her,” he said.
Ambassador Villa said mother and child are together now and will be among those who would be soon flown home as part of the ongoing repatriation program of the Department of Foreign Affairs. END
