Inaugural Meeting of the PH-Turkey Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation a Success

26 February 2018 ANKARA – Philippine Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez led the Philippine delegation during the inaugural meeting of the Philippines-Turkey Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation (PH-TR JCETC) in Ankara, Turkey on 05-06 February 2018.
PH-TR JCETC co-chairpersons Secretary Lopez and Turkish Defense Minister Nurretin Canikli, conducted a bilateral meeting to discuss opportunities for cooperation in defense industries, construction and consultancy services, shipbuilding and energy.
A bilateral agreement on agriculture and investment promotion was signed during the said bilateral meeting.
The two Heads of Delegations also exchanged views on the economic situations in their respective countries, anti-terrorism efforts in their respective regions, as well as prospects for MSME development and Islamic financing for the rehabilitation of Marawi.
Secretary Lopez also met with the Turkish Contractors Association (TCA) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), where he highlighted the Philippines’ economic performance, its strategic location in the region and the government’s “Build, Build, Build” program. END
