32 Filipinos in the GCC Recognized as ASEAN Engineers

28 February 2018 MANAMA – The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-Bahrain Chapter (PICE-Bahrain) hosted the second ASEAN Engineers Special Conferment under the auspices of the Philippine Technological Council – Middle East and North Africa Affairs (PTC-MENA) recently at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
A total of thirty-two (32) Filipino engineers’ conferees, 14 from the Kingdom of Bahrain and 18 from the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, were recognized as ASEAN Engineers and accorded their respective certificates and medals.
The ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO) together with Philippine Technological Council Engr. Federico A. Monsada, PTC-President and Engr. Romulo R. Agatep, Director for International Affairs, led the awarding of the certificates and medals. They were joined by Engr. Trese T. Bustamante, Presidential Adviser of PTC-MENA Affairs and currently PICE-EPSA chapter’s president.
Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, Alfonso A. Ver delivered an inspirational message encouraging every Filipino engineer to obtain full status and recognition as an ASEAN Engineer who is eligible to work in ten (10) ASEAN member states. He added that through continuous training and upgrading of qualifications, Filipino professionals can maintain their competitive edge in the Middle East, in ASEAN, and practically anywhere in the world.
During their visit, Engr. Federico A. Monsada, and Engr. Romulo R. Agatep, together with Engr. Trese T. Bustamante, of PTC-MENA called on the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) to explain the ongoing efforts to upgrade the capabilities of Filipino engineers in Bahrain. They also discussed the strengthening of the relationship of PICE-Bahrain and relationship the BSE, proposed the conduct of an Engineering Summit to be held in Bahrain, sharing knowledge and techniques in construction and opening more BSE memberships from Filipino engineers. They also extended an invitation for the BSE directors to visit the Philippines. END
