Forum on Starting a Business Held at PH Consulate General in HK for OFWs

01 March 2018 HONG KONG – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, in cooperation with Enrich Personal Development HK, hosted a forum for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on how to start a business on 25 February 2018. The event is in line with the Consulate General’s mission to help OFWs gain financial security.
Ms. Faye Hugo, Enrich volunteer, discussed the necessary preparations for setting up a business in order to ensure financial security for their future and the possibility of returning home to the Philippines for good.
Ms. Hugo reminded OFWs to be flexible and to welcome risks, instead of embarking on a business with profit as the sole motivation. She added that being an open-minded person can develop confidence in business planning, its operations and management.
After the talk, where the Enrich financial advisors provided migrant workers one-on-one counseling on money concerns specifically debt and loan management.
Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio A. Morales led the kick-off session of Enrich’s business lecture series at the Consulate Chancery, which was attended by more than 50 OFWs and Enrich’s members.
The monthly financial one-to-one consultations and quarterly forums will continue in 2018 under the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the partners earlier this year. END
