A team from the Department of Health (DOH) briefs Philippine Consul General in Jeddah Edgar Badajas and other Consulates General officials.
28 February 2018 JEDDAH – The visiting contingent from the Department of Health (DOH) briefed key officials of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah on 27 February, on its findings and recommendations after the two-week assessment of the medical conditions of wards of the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (Bahay Kalinga).
The DOH team was able to assess the health condition of and distribute medicines and hygiene kits to one hundred forty-six (146) male and female wards of the Bahay Kalinga.
The DOH team noted the need to determine the pre-existing medical conditions and maintenance medicines of wards prior to their admission in the Bahay Kalinga. In response to this observation, the Consulate General will be incorporating in its existing processes the conduct of an initial medical assessment of the would-be wards upon initial contact.
The Consulate General and the DOH team also came up with several protocols and action plans to effectively address the medical and psychological concerns of Filipinos sheltered at the Bahay Kalinga. END
