100 Filipinos Avail of Consulate Saturday Services in New York

The 1st batch of customers flock to the Consular Waiting Area.

01 March 2018 NEW YORK – Over 100 Filipinos availed of the consular services extended by the Philippine Consulate General in New York during the Consulate General’s first Consulate Saturday for the year.

A total of 54 ePassport applications were processed, 51 documents notarized, and 12 individuals took their oath as Filipino citizens under R.A. 9225 or the "Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003." Consul General Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega administered the oath, with the approximately 180 participants of the 4th Filipino-American Community General Assembly serving as witnesses.

In addition to the usual consular services offered, Social Security System (SSS) and PAG-IBIG inquiries were also entertained through SSS Representative, Ms. Marites C. Marin from the SSS-San Francisco Office and PAG-IBIG Services Officer, Mr. Michael F. Azucena.

Representatives from SSS, PAG-IBIG, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will again be invited to join the next Consulate Saturdays scheduled on 05 May, 04 August, and 03 November 2018.

The Consulate Saturday services is a program designed to provide additional processing opportunities for clients who find it difficult to take a day off from work during the regular work week to avail of various consular services. END
