PHL Consulate General in Dubai and Dubai Police Conduct Talk on Human Trafficking

First Lieutenant Rashid Nasser Ali of the Dubai Police General Department of Human Rights discusses UAE’s efforts in combating human trafficking to members of Filipino Community in Dubai and Northern Emirates.

02 March 2018 DUBAI – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Dubai Police jointly organized an educational forum on human trafficking at the Consulate General on 26 February.

First Lieutenant Rashid Nasser Ali of the Dubai Police General Department of Human Rights informed more than 100 Filipino community leaders and members of U.A.E.’s efforts to combat human trafficking. He dispelled fears of going to the police authorities and urged everyone to report instances of human trafficking and other crimes to the police hotline 999.

In his remarks, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes encouraged everyone wishing to work in the U.A.E. to go through the legitimate channels of overseas employment. He underscored the host government’s initiatives for the protection of expatriate workers and acknowledged the willingness of the Dubai Police to extend its assistance.

The event was the second of a series of seminars held by the Dubai Police for the Filipino community and has assured the Consulate General of its continuous collaboration in conducting similar events in the future. The first seminar hosted in collaboration with Dubai Police was held on August 2017. END
