PICQS UAE Chapter President Marilyn Martinez said the special event was held to celebrate their achievements as an organization as well as to welcome newly chartered or certified members. PICQS, Inc. is made up of Filipino members of the UK-based Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) as well as QS-trained engineers who are working towards their QS Study, Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and Assessment of Technical Competence (ATC) towards Chartered Membership.

Currently, it has about 1200 members worldwide with chapters in the United Kingdom, U.A.E., Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, KSA, USA, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and the Philippines. The U.A.E. Chapter alone has nearly 400 members.

Certified quantity surveyors, usually with a background in civil engineering, architecture, and other related fields, are among the most sought-after and highest-paid professionals in the U.A.E. Filipino QS practitioners are employed by the biggest local and international construction/engineering firms in the U.A.E.

In his remarks, Deputy Consul General in Dubai Renato N Dueñas Jr, praised the members of the PICQS-UAE Chapter for doing the rest of the Filipinos proud for their professional achievements in the U.A.E. He also highlighted the group’s commitment to help fellow Filipino QS practitioners become chartered or certified members of the prestigious RICS or AIQS.

Joining in the celebration was the Chair and Founder of the PICQS, Julie Christie M. de la Cruz, who has recently been elected as a Fellow of RICS, the first Filipino to achieve such a distinction. END
