PHL Consulate General in Dubai Welcomes New PHL Optometrists Society (P.O.S.) U.A.E.

02 March 2018 DUBAI – Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes led the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers and members of the newly-formed Philippine Optometrists Society (P.O.S.) United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) in Dubai on February 28.

The new set of officers include Dr. Jos Samson as President and Dr. Karen Hernandez as Vice President. Dr Yasmin Cortes, spouse of Consul General Cortes and a licensed Optometrists, is the P.O.S. U.A.E. adviser.

Consul General Cortes challenged the optometrists to involve themselves in the various activities and programs of the Filipino Community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. He added that as the U.A.E.’s first ever accredited group of Optometrists, it was incumbent upon them to continue providing an avenue for other optometrists to keep abreast of policies that would be of interest and concern to them both in the U.A.E. and in the Philippines as well as be updated of information and opportunities that would further their professional growth.

Dr. Jos Samson, President of the P.O.S. U.A.E., assured the Consulate General that the P.O.S. will certainly be more active in the Consulate General and Community’s events. She added that they would endeavor to entice more optometrists around the Emirates to join their professional group. END
