Rene Robles Showcases Art Work in Xiamen’s Fashionable District

05 March 2018 XIAMEN – In line with the celebration of Philippine National Arts Month 2018, the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully launched the “Art in Assertionism” mini-exhibit featuring 15 original art works of Mr. Ireneo “Rene” Robles, Jr., an internationally renowned and award-winning Filipino visual artist, held at Marc Café/Restaurant, Xiamen on February 10, which ran until February 21.
The Exhibit was well received by the Filipino and expatriate communities in Xiamen, especially by the café/restaurant’s clientele who found it a pioneering as well as refreshing approach in mainstreaming visual arts to the general public.
Special guests who attended the exhibit were Mr. Jaime Co, Chairman, Filipino-Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (FCGCCI) - Youth Committee; Mr. Benito Choa, General Manager, ETON Properties (Xiamen) Ltd.; Engr. Roman Go, Chairman, Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS), Ms. Johanna Melissa N. Rupisan, AVP-Operations, SM Supermalls – China and Mr. Marc Vladimir Tan, Proprietor/Chef, Marc Café/Restaurant. Other guests include officers and members of Filipino Association in Xiamen (FAX), Philippine Consulate General’s officers and staff, Filipino-Chinese business sector, and other friends and contacts.
Philippine Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores expressed appreciation to Mr. Robles for sharing his work to promote Philippine arts and culture and to Mr. Tan, a Filipino-Chinese entrepreneur, for hosting the exhibit.
The “Art of Assertionism” exhibit is a series of activities organized with the valuable support of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Filipino-Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FCGCCI) – Youth Committee as part of the Consulate General’s cultural diplomacy thrusts as well as a contribution to the celebration of 2018 Philippine National Arts Month themed, “Ani ng Sining, Alab ng Sining” (Harvest of the Arts, Flame of Art).
