PHL Embassy in Jakarta Holds Seminar Workshop on PHL Indigenous Culture

05 March 2018 JAKARTA – The Philippine Embassy and Sentro Rizal Jakartain cooperation with Katutubo Exchange (KX) Philippines conducted a “Seminar Workshop on Philippine Indigenous Culture,” which was held on February 24.

Katutubo Exchange President Mr. Edwin Antonio together with Basco Batanes Mayor Anastacia Viola presented and promoted a multi-level cultural exchange platform among the indigenous people of the Philippines, with Ms. Viola focusing on the Batanes-Ivatan people’s way of life. Ms. Elnora Dudang and Mr. Jeslie Manuel also provided talks on other aspects of Philippine culture specifically on Pangasinan and its various products as well as demonstrations on the manner of dressing of various tribes in the Philippines.

Members of the Filipino community as well as High School students and Teachers of Raffles Christian School in Jakarta participated in the Seminar Workshop. KX shared and taught them indigenous games, dances, manner of clothing and way of life. The students gamely participated in the games and also put on native costumes. They also shared their talents by singing Indonesian songs during abreak in the Workshop.

The Workshop also provided participants with a taste of Filipino delicacies and snacks – with servings of biko, turon and sago at gulaman served as refreshments after the talk. END
