Consul General Cortes goes on FB Live to reach out to Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates
05 March 2018 DUBAI – In the spirit of reaching out to the more than 550,000 Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes embarked on an FB Live Feed on Friday 2 March from 4 to 5 PM (Dubai time) under the FB page of Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes to answer questions Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates wished to clarify or anything that they have always wanted to ask the Consulate. At the end of the hour, some 10,000 viewers tuned in the feed, shared some 60 times, and reached some 26,000 FB accounts.
Among the issues most viewers raised included procedures on securing an NBI Clearance (pertinent to the UAE’s new requirement of the Certificate of Good Conduct), the passport appointment system, legal assistance to nationals in distress, Consulate’s opening hours, and notary and civil registration concerns.
By Sunday 4 March at 3PM, the video feed has reached the walls of around 65,000 FB accounts, viewed around 19,000 times, and shared 216 times. Based on the comments of those who tuned in, the endeavor was an effective tool to interact and engage with the Consulate’s constituency. The Consul General plans to hold a Live Feed monthly. END
