PHL Ambassador Meets with Filipino Community in Iran
Philippine Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo C. Santos delivers his speech to the Filipino Community
05 March 2018 TEHRAN – The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Iran convened the first Filipino community (Filcom) meeting for this year on 23 February 2018, inside the Philippine chancery along North Valiasr Avenue.
During the meeting, Philippine Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo C. Santos thanked the Filcom leaders and representatives for continuously working with the Philippine Embassy in looking after the welfare of the Filipinos in Iran.
Officials of the Philippine Embassy provided updates on developments in their respective sections: consular, visas, passports, dual citizenship matters, and forthcoming cultural events. Filcom organizations were also given the opportunity to raise their concerns, which were adequately addressed by all the Embassy officials.
In the meeting, Ambassador Santos took the opportunity to formally introduce to the Filipino community the new members of the Philippine Embassy team in Tehran: First Secretary and Consul Bryan Dexter B. Lao; Cultural Officer Amparo Malayo, and Finance Officer Noel Reyes.
There are an estimated 1,187 Filipinos in Iran. A majority of this number are spouses and children of Iranians who earlier studied for their university education in the Philippines. END
