PHL Embassy Participates at the Brunei Book Fair and Empowering Reading Culture Carnival 2018

05 March 2018 BRUNEI – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam participated in the Brunei Book Fair and Empowering Reading Culture Carnival 2018, in conjunction with the celebrations for the 34th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, from February 27 to March 04 at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas.
Brunei’s Minister of Communication Yang Berhomat Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, officially opened the Book Fair, together with senior government officials of Brunei Darussalam, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Post’s booth for the Book Fair was filled with books from the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal. Most of the books displayed were books on PHL tourism and culture, children’s books on PHL folklore, and short stories of Lola Basyang, and literary books by known authors such as Paz Marquez-Benitez and Bienvenido N. Santos. Also included were books of Jose Rizal, namely, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. The booth was decorated with woven materials such as the banig, t’nalak and sinamay fabrics, rattan chairs and table, giving it a comfortable atmosphere for reading. END
