Filipino Organization “BIBAK-IGO Moscow” Celebrates 6th Anniversary, Fashion of the Cordilleras at PHL Embassy

06 March 2018 MOSCOW —The BIBAK-IGO Moscow Chapter, one of the Filipino Community organizations in Russia, celebrated its 6th anniversary at the Philippine Embassy in Moscow on March 04. The highlight of the event was a simple yet empowering fashion show which featured the colors and weaves worn by the people of the Cordilleras, specifically from Apayao, Kalinga, Benguet, Ifugao, and Bontoc.

Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta gave an inspirational talk during the event, where he commended the organization on having established firm roots in its six years of existence as well as in providing an effective support network for members of the Filipino community in Russia. He also praised the fashion show, noting the importance of valuing and promoting culture as part of what Filipinos can do to promote the Philippines abroad.

“In these three years that I have served as Ambassador here in Russia, I have gotten to know the BIBAK organization here very well. You have taught me many more things about the people and culture of the Cordilleras,” remarked Ambassador Sorreta. END
