Jakarta Sentro Rizal Lecture Series 2018: The Art of Mediation: Indonesia’s Role in the Quest for Peace in Southern Mindanao

06 March 2018 JAKARTA – Mr. Jamil Maidan Flores, author of the book, “The Art of Mediation: Indonesia’s Quest for Peace in Southern Philippines,” was Sentro Rizal 2018 Lecture Series speaker on March 03, at the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta.

The lecture focused on Indonesia’s vital role in the cause of peace in the 1990s signing of the Final Peace Agreement (FPA) between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) on September 02, 1996.

The lecture was attended by more than 60 members of the Filipino community, teachers and students of the Indonesia Defense University, London School of Public Relations, Mentari School, Thailand Embassy official and Embassy as well as Philippine Mission to ASEAN personnel.

The guests were very interested and eager to know more about peace in Mindanao as shown by the many questions asked which caused the lecture’s extended hour.

The Lecture also provided participants with a taste of Filipino delicacies and snacks, with servings of pansit palabok, fried lumpia and buko pandan served as refreshments after the lecture. END
