05 December 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Budapest participated in the Third Diplomatic Fair 2013 organized by the Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest (DSB) on November 24 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Budapest.
The Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest is an organization composed of spouses of diplomats in Budapest, headed by its President, Ms. Biljana Griovska, wife of the Ambassador of Macedonia. The Guest of Honor of the Diplomatic Fair was Madame Anita Herczegh, wife of Hungarian President Janos Ader.
Over the last years, DSB has been supporting three organizations: The Special Education and Development Institute SOFI (about 200 mentally challenged children); The Sisters of Good Shepherd (shelter and educational centre for abused women and children, about 120 children); The Children`s Home ( A MI HAZUNK ) in Esztergom (Educational program for Roma children, about 100 children ).
The Philippines was among many Embassies represented that sold food, souvenirs, gift items, packed foods, wines, and other products native to their respective countries. During the fair, guests were treated to lively song numbers, native dances, classical music pieces and performances from solo acts and groups from different countries.
Philippine products were sold such as mango juices, Cebu dried mango, San Miguel Beer, Mango Rum Liqueur, Old Captain Rum and Minola coconut oil. Fresh water pearls from the Philippines, as well as assorted jewelry, Philippine capiz Christmas decorations and assorted souvenirs were also sold. The Philippine booth also showcased Filipino handicrafts, fine woven clothing such as the “kimona”, and the unique Christmas “parols”. END
