09 March 2018 PRAGUE – The Philippine Embassy led by Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Juan E. Dayang, Jr., joined the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP), which consists of the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, during the formal opening of the ASEAN Orchid Exhibit held at the Fata Morgana Greenhouse of Prague Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden which has approximately 2,200 species of orchids in its collection presents orchids from ASEAN countries during the exhibit from 02 to 25 March 2018. Also present during the opening were the exhibit’s patrons—famous Czech personalities Iva Huttnerova, Lucie Bila and Michaela Kuklova.
The Philippine Embassy provided decorative materials including a brass Sarimanok, a legendary bird of Maranao, a capiz Christmas “parol” lantern and woven mats for display. Other Embassies also provided cultural displays in the Botanical Garden.
The guests and journalists covering the launching event were treated to delicacies prepared by ACP. The guests were particularly delighted by the Philippine mango juice that the Philippine Embassy served.
According to its website, the Botanical Garden’s Fata Morgana Greenhouse has Philippine plants as part of the permanent collection of tropical plants.
