12 March 2018 HONG KONG — Philippine Consul General Antonio A. Morales, accompanied by Consul Paulo V. Saret, Vice Consul Fatima G. Quintin and Vice Consul Robert D. Quintin, attended the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s Consular Cocktail Reception hosted by Director Chang Kwok-wai Erick on 6 March 2018 at the Department’s offices.

During the reception, Consul General Morales took the opportunity to thank Director Chang for the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s assistance, particularly on cases involving Filipino nationals. He also assured Director Chang of the Philippine Consulate General’s continuous support and partnership in matters of mutual concern.

Director Chang thanked the consular corps for its close cooperation and support, especially on initiatives to improve border security and prevent transnational crimes.

One of these initiatives is the installation of self-service departure kiosks for visitors to Hong Kong or “Smart Departure” launched at the Hong Kong International Airport on 10 October 2017. Smart Departure features face recognition technology to verify identity, thus facilitating self-service departure for visitors.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department is part of the Technical Working Group created by the Philippines, through the Consulate, and the Hong Kong government to address issues involving OFWs in the Territory. END
