Consular Outreach at Intercity Hotel, Salalah

12 March 2018 MUSCAT — The Philippine Embassy in Muscat reported a good turnout at a one-day consular outreach activity conducted in Salalah on 09 March 2018.  Salalah is the second major city in Oman next to the capital of Muscat with a distance of about 1,000 kms in between the two cities.

Close to three hundred OFWs turned up to avail of various consular and OFW-related services.  Community leaders observed that the early announcement of the schedule contributed to the good turnout.

The Embassy team was composed of officials and personnel from the Embassy, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Social Security System (SSS) office in Muscat.

Among the services rendered were passport renewal, notarials, civil registration, Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN), overseas voting registration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) membership registration, verification of labor contracts, issuance of Overseas Employment Certifications (OEC) and SSS-related services.

A Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) was also conducted by POLO on the same day to address various issues and concerns of newly-arrived OFWs.

The Embassy last conducted a Consular Outreach and OV registration in Salalah on 08 December 2017. The Embassy plans to hold the said activity in Salalah quarterly this year. END
